This year has been very eventful for the airport, so here is a "Year in Review" for KIA featuring new flights and destinations along with other exciting news that happened during 2013 at the airport.

2013: A Year in Review for KIA
January:
- LAN Airlines began service to Santiago, Chile
March (spring schedule):
- Virgin America began service to Chicago-O’Hare
- Southwest began service to Milwaukee
- American began service to New York-LaGuardia
- United added more flights to Cleveland and Washington-Dulles
- Southwest added another flight to Orange County
- Alaska Airlines added another flight to Seattle
May:
- The airport got a YouTube channel and since then has received over 420 channel views with 49 subscribers
June (summer schedule):
- US Airways Express began service to Tucson
- Southwest began service to El Paso
- UPS began cargo service to Ontario
- The airport built a new Hyatt hotel next to Terminal D
July:
- The airport received 100 model cars for the parking lots adjacent to Terminal D
- A cargo building was constructed in front of the two cargo stands
- The airport changed to a new website with a better design
August:
- Lufthansa upgraded their daily flights to Frankfurt and Munich to an A380 for both routes
- New maps of the terminals and an airport overview were released for travelers
December (winter schedule):
- Alitalia began service to Rome-FCO
- WestJet began service to Calgary and Vancouver
- The social networking part of the airport ended the year with over 1,500 Twitter followers and nearly 600 Instagram followers
- KIA served over 10 million passengers this year, an increase from 8 million in 2012
